What is this about?

Hello!

I used to write and manage the LA&B Blog for the UC Davis Internship & Career Center but I recently submitted my last post because I am no longer a student and officially a UCD alum! I mean, the whole point of one student giving another student advice on ICC resources is a little difficult when you’re no longer of that status, you know (BTW, if you are an alum like me, you can STILL take advantage of ICC resources like Aggie Job Link & Career Fairs!). However, I couldn’t sit still and not blog anymore, so I decided to create this one.

In essence, this is a continuation of my blogging work.   In the months prior to graduation, I talked with many alum and asked them about “life after college” and “getting to that ideal job,” and what I learned is that, when you think you have the solution, you discover something else out and start back at square one all over again. Figuring out your future takes a lot of reflection on workplace and personal goals. And since life after college can seem scary, I am here to provide a bit of insight on what to expect… as I experience it myself :D Sounds fun, right?

Why did you name your blog “hiii kris?” and WHAT is up with that picture?
Well… haha. I tend to write in caps when I get excited about things, and I love that picture because it captures my excitement for life perfectly. I am hoping that, when you come to read my blog, you are excited too, and in essence greet me with a “HIII KRIS :D ” Let’s be friendly now! Wait, not that friendly.

Photo credit goes to a friend of mine, former Apple coworker and also UCD Alum Jonathan C Wong. That picture was taken at my graduation (College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences, w00t w00t!) as I crossed the stage. When you fall and fail and think you’re not gonna make it, and finally do – it’s an amazing moment. I was uberly excited to be up there and I haaad to live it up (not like I’m gonna get to repeat it ever again!).

The woman to my right is Dr. Susan Kaiser, one of the faculty of the Division of Textiles & Clothing and a beloved resource of the department.

Oh yeah, so who am I?
Kris Iringan is a recent UCD alum with a Bachelor of Science in Textiles & Clothing. She hopes to work in the apparel industry, but is currently working as Assistant for a Non-profit organization in the Sacramento area.
